WHAT'S THE MEANING?
Manufactured by Samsung Electronics, the Samsung Gear is a smartwatch that was originally running on Android OS but later powered by the Tizen operating system. It debuted in 2013 as the Galaxy Gear, equipped with 1.63-inch AMOLED screen display.
DID YOU KNOW?
In terms of smartwatch one-upmanship, it's always about Samsung and Apple. But did you know that Samsung released the first-ever watch phone in 1999? Branded as the SPH-WP10, the first watch phone featured a base-band processor chip and a cute fixed antenna. Since the late 1990s was the heyday of phone calls, the CDMA-based watch phone was geared towards having long hours of call up to 90 minutes and a 60-hour standby time.
From talk-and-text watch phone to high-tech wearable smartwatch packed with powerful features, Samsung has clearly proven its technological prowess. Ever since the dawn of smartwatches--from Apple Watches to Samsung Gears--owning one has become more and more unusual. Yet, a lot of people still don't know a lot of things about the Samsung Galaxy band. For one, did you know that the band was also made for concert-goers? Yes, the speaker in the clasp is ideal in a concert setting where loud ambient music is present. The noise-canceling mouthpiece in the body is smart enough to modulate your voice while talking to someone. Well, since Samsung Gears are built on the premise of serving as an extension of the one's personality, you can maximize it by seamlessly connecting it to your Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
