"Society has really changed the way we look at vampires and I didn't think this was going to be scary. Most of the time, someone is falling in love with one, or being a hero. Stephan King did a great job with this book. I was scared most of the time I was reading it. I couldn't even read it before going to bed, it had me scared about what was outside the window. Best scariest book that has been written to date and if you love the modern vampires of today, this book is probably not for you."

"1984 is a scary book because it feels so real. You can get a sense that the author, George Orwell, was really worried that the world would become similar to the story described in the book. I have read the English version, and the French version is pretty good as well. I don't think the story lost any meaning in the translation."

"Honestly Carrie truly is a very scary novel. There's something about the mix of religion and the average girl who gets revenge on her bullies that does it. Sends a chill up my spine every time I read it."

"This is the first Stephen King novel that I ever read. It scared the heck of me. I was in my early teens at the time. I went back and read it a few years ago (in my late thirties) and it still scared the heck out of me."

"I don't care too much for scary stories but if I had to choose, I would read this book. The story isn't like others in that it has a great opening to it, the plane crash. And being stranded on an island is something that could really happen to you. So this book draws you in."

"This book is actually terrifying. It's a slow burn, one that frays you at the edges and chips away at your defenses. I wasn't scared in the traditional sense, but I became afraid of the dark. I stayed away from open rooms and didn't go through mysterious doors. This book isn't just something you read, it's a transformation you undergo."

"One of my favorite Stephen king books.. There are about 20 short stories, and almost all of them could stand out as a novel. Many movies and expended books came from this including, the Stand, lawnmower man, Children of the corn and salem's lot. This is one that i alway keep in my car so that i can kill 15-20 minutes by reading a story of my choice."
