    #1The Boggy Creek Monster

    The Boggy Creek Monster

The Boggy Creek Monster is Arkansas' version of the Sasquatch, a seven or eight feet tall creature that was first spotted in 1834. This urban legends is so well known and popular that even books were written and movies were filmed about it.

"I have never found Sasquatch to be scary. It's always just a guy in a hairy suit to me. The Boggy Creek Monster is basically just the Arkansas Sasquatch. I don't understand why people become so captivated by these kinds of myths. They should really add some more violence or darkness to the legends. I'm not going to be scared by something that goes for a stroll once in awhile. "

#2The water babies of Massacre Rocks

The water babies of Massacre Rocks

The most popular and scariest urban legend in the state of Idaho is the one held in Massacre Rocks. Legend says that many years ago, a Native American tribe was experiencing terrible famine, so mothers drowned their kids alive, rather than see them starve to death. Today, many people claim that the screams of those babies can still be heard.

"Duller than dishwater from start to finish. You can surf the web and find many creepy pastas that are far superior FOR FREE than this junk. Avoid, you're better off reading RL Stine books."

    The 100 Steps Cemetery

It is said that there is a cemetery in Indiana where you can get a vision of your own death. Located in Brazil, all you have to do in order to get this vision is to climb the steps while counting to 100: once you reach that number, a ghost will show you what you came looking for.

"My friends and I wanted to scare ourselves so we started looking up haunted places in the world. We came across The 100 Steps Cemetery. The 100 Steps Cemetery is legendary and creepy. We discovered the secrets and freaked ourselves out really good. Most of us stopped before we counted to 100."

    #4The spirits of Hoosac Tunnel

    The spirits of Hoosac Tunnel

During the 24 years that it took to build this tunnel, hundreds of men died. 13 of these deceased workers were trapped in a explosion in 1867 or 1868, but rather than die because of the explosion, they died many days after because of gas inhalation. As they were left to die with no one trying to save them, it is said that the spirits of these 13 men are still in that tunnel.

"The beauty of the urban legend is that no one knows if they are real or not. And quite frankly, it doesn't matter, because the story itself causes people to believe it. People allow themselves to think it might be real, and it is somewhat of a psychological type of thrill; not knowing if something is true, and not wanting to find out either."

    The ghosts of Slaughterhouse Canyon

This is the most popular urban legend in the state of Arizona, and it took place during the Gold Rush. A poor family was starving, so the father went out every night looking for something to eat, but one day he didn't come back. The mother and the kid had no longer anything to eat, and they also died, and now they can be found in the Slaughterhouse Canyon haunting everyone who goes there at night.

"A group of hunters from Wilmington including S. W. Garret, G. V. Garret, and Joe Gore spent that night tracking the creature for three miles around swampland. According to them, the tracks showed claws at least an inch long and indicated an 80 lb. to 90 lb. animal. "This is a seriously creepy book and well-written. My daughter told me to read it, and I did just to make her happy and have something to talk about with her:) I'm sort of glad I read it - although it is very scary at times. I will be searching for his other books."
