"Katniss Everdeen is the hero our young people need to look up to right now. This heroine is brave, selfless, and works hard for the people around her. You will go on an emotional rollercoaster seeing how beautiful and brutal this futuristic world has become. I have never read a book so fast in my life, I truly could not put it down. I can’t wait to read the next two books and see how this story ends."

"Dragonflight opened me up to the world of Pern, and more importantly the world of science fiction! It's as fantastic now as it was when I read it in middle school 20 years ago. I go back and reread it every so often. Anne McCaffrey was a genius, and the world lost an amazing author when she left it. "

"I had read this book when I was a kid, but picked it up on a whim recently when I did a month of reading women writers, and I was delighted again by it. As an adult, you can enjoy aspects of it that probably went over your head when you were younger -- especially the simply superb descriptive writing. An the characterization is really wonderful."

"I love sci-fi books, and especially when they have female lead characters, so this book was right up my alley. The only thing I'll say is that it has a lot going on, so it's not the kind of book to put down for a long period of time, because you'll probably be lost the next time you get back into it."

"This book is highly popular for a reason. It's a great book for teens who are entering a world where they too are going to have to make decisions about who they are going to be and what groups they are going to associate with. The main character, is a strong, well-written female character who struggles with the limits put on her in the post-apocalyptic Chicago in which they live. I would definitely recommend, especially for young readers who are ready to graduate to more mature content. "
