"I read The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Stevenson after realizing on a recent vacation that he was a Scottish writer. I knew the story, but had never actually read the novel. It is a great read and engaging from start to finish. Read this classic if you haven't already!"

"Filth is the classic late 90's book by author Irvine Welsh. It tells the story of drug addled Bruce Robertson and his intense search for his family. While it is a good read, hardly what I would consider the best of Scottish fiction. Still not a bad way to spend an afternoon. "

"I read The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency because I was a big fan of the TV series. The book was okay, but clearly a first attempt; a lot of the dialogue came off as sloppy and poorly planned, and the plot wasn't particularly interesting either. Still worth the read if you're a diehard fan of the series."

"I like Scottish fiction books. I think you can find great characters that are a bit more edgier than the one the author creates in the USA. Treasure Island featured all of that. It hooked you in and made you not want to put the book down."

"Unfortunately, I did not end up liking this book. Aside from stereotypically describing the lead character, Ewan McCabe as an angry laden Scot, the book fails to convince its readers that it is realistic, or set during the time it is said to have been set in."

"I love books that are able to transport me to far away lands and this book does just that. The author's descriptions really make it easy to picture the Scottish Highlands as well as get into the head of the main character. The message of the book is also really positive. "

"Who doesn't like Shakespeare? Or, at least, has read it for school. I'll admit to being someone who read Shakespeare even when I didn't have to, and Macbeth was one of them. Like most of his plays, it takes some studying and rereading to capture all that goes on, but it is well worth it. "
