Did you know?
Did you know that those in committed relationships sext more? Sexting apps, as well as booty call apps, might seem like an easy way to get a hookup but how it affects romantic relationships got people wondering. So why do people sext? A study by California State University professor Rob Weisskirch found out that those who were in a close relationship feel more comfortable and secure thus, more likely to sext. Initially, sexting is considered a deviant behavior but there is less judgment in a committed relationship than with partners who are just getting to know each other.
Adam & Eve, a sex toy company, surveyed couples and found out that most of the people are only doing it at the beginning of the relationship since only 6% of couples who’s been together for over 10 years admit to sexting. According to sex expert Dr. Kat Van Kirk, sexting can spice things up and the result shows that 56% of couples who admit to sexting say it improved their relationship. Although Oklahoma State University doctoral candidate in psychology Joe Currin recommends that before sending nude selfies or texting steamy messages to your partner, make sure you talk and agree first with your partner because consent is key in any sexual relationship rules.
