"While the material often deals with heavy subject matter, the artistry and sensitivity of the author make this a very compelling read. It comes in at 144 pages and can be read in an afternoon or two, but the story of Japanese women in WWII America stays with the reader long after putting the book down. "

"Fragmented story of a man's mental illness and self torture. He wants things he never can allow to happen, sabotages all his possibilities and makes far flung attempts to justify it as possibly being a better way to live. I'm not sure I'd want to read it but some might. Seems rather nightmarish."

"I just re-read "Evening Class" by Maeve Binchy for the 2nd time and I'm still impressed with it to this day. The characters are vivid and the story keeps you hooked until the end. Every character seems realistic and their intentions are believable. It isn't the longest book but it'll definitely keep you entertained throughout. If I had a single nitpick with it I would say that it ends somewhat abruptly and unpredictably. However, some adults may actually enjoy the ending as it comes unexpected."
