"I had high expectations for this book, but came away rather disappointed after reading it. The post-apocalyptic world theme is very intriguing, but the author misses opportunities to really develop interesting plots based on the world they created. The zombie genre is a bit overdone in literature these days, and the story line in The Forest of Hands and Teeth is fairly predictable."

"This book is not a good match to this topic. First of all, it is not short. It is 832 pages long. Second, I don't think it is a scary book."

"I don't know that I'd call this scary, but it's definitely written for young adults. Set in a post apocalypse, it follows a young woman in her attempts to both survive in the world and make a life out of what's left. It's incredibly short, so unless you're willing to continue the series you should probably stay away from it, just so you don't get your hopes up."

"This is the novelization of the extremely popular web series. From the spoileriffic title on, this book is delight. It's horror, it's funny, you'll love it. It says it's for young adults but trust me, if you're an adult with a sense of humor, you'll enjoy!"

"I have read the Goosebump books since I was younger and still love them today. This book is no exception. All the same clever writing and scares are here. It is a really fun read that will have you wanting more once the last page is over. A really great, and strangely fun, horror style book."

"This collection of Edgar Allen Poe's stories are an excellent summary of some of his best work. From the legendary Raven to the more obscure Masque of the Red Death, every story tells its own original, dark tale that permeates with mystery and suspense. The English used is now quite archaic and sometimes a bit confusing, but any native speaker versed in English can easily comprehend and enjoy these stories."

"This is a great book, by Newbery Medal winning author Neil Gaiman. It's popular enough to have been made into a major motion picture. A wonderfully scary book. But it is 212 pages long, so it depends on what your definition of a short book is and if that number of pages fits the bill."

"I have a nephew who likes scary things, but he also doesn't like to read. Therefore, I thought I'd take a look at some short books. This one, while it fits the scary part of what I'm looking for, isn't very short. At over 300 pages, I think it's a bit too long to hold his focus. It might take him a number of weeks. "

"This book got me a lot of ghost bump when I read it. Its twisted horror and psyche plot. The villains are clever and scary. The story is fun and you can’t trust anyone. My niece love this book so much too. I wish they can make this as a movie. "
