This collection is better suited to mature readers as they are in their original form and not ideally whittled down for delicate, young readers."

"Short story collection of fairy tales that I enjoyed reading again. Great fantasy adventure without as much darkness and violence as traditional. It is suitable fantasy for all ages which is why I voted for it to be the Big Read book. OverDrive, I think, meant it to be primarily for young adult readers but I never thought of it that way since I was an adult when it came out and I read it years ago. McKinley is great at interesting retellings of fairy tales that give the characters and stories depth with believable detail. Kept me more interested than one would think possible for a reread of tales we all know. Made me want to reread Beauty, the Outlaws of Sherwood, etc."
