"I had both a love and hate relationship with this series (which recently ended in Japan). On the one hand, I loved how the author really researched and then wove in the fae history of the British Isles. With everything from the Green Knight to Faerie queens woven in, it was a fresh take on ages old stories. I also loved the artwork - each page was a real treat to enjoy the drawings. But on the other hand, all the characters were very flat and one dimensional - mustache twirling evil villains and Edward, the hero, seeming fairly ambivalent throughout the story. The artwork felt 21st century, the characters felt very 1970s shoujo manga cliche. The heroine is a sweet character but a bit too pollyanna for my likes. Those who like innocent and sweet main characters will definitely love this book. Edward, the hero, is one of those types who seems like he doesn't care about the safety of the heroine - as long as she furthers his aims. But of course, we will be given hints throughout the series that that may not be the actual case. I think the key word here is that this is a sweet story - a sugary confection that tastes good initially but may leave you wanting something a bit more filling at the end"

"This book was alright, but it did not keep my interest for long. I picked the book up when I was bored at my job. The cover looked interesting, so I decided to give it a chance. The story was not really my cup of tea because it felt like a romance story. I took me 4 weeks to read the book because I kept dropping it. The main character seemed kind of shallow and the ending was very cliche, I have read better shoujo-mangas."

""Maid Sama!" is an alright manga, but it does not stand out much. I read the manga after a friend recommended it to me, but I was not impressed. I read the first volume in less than an hour, but it felt longer. The manga had a typical love story that did not to create a unique spin on the formula. The art was cute, but not very different from any other shoujo, I have read and seen better shoujo-mangas."

""This has to be one of the sweetest, purely romantic, stories I've read in a long time! A lovely grown-up fairytale - a modern-day Cinderella tale - that leaves the reader feeling hopeful and happy inside! The colorful secondary characters and the Priscilla/Pietro romance added a degree of depth to the book, as did the detailed descriptions of the setting." - Donna K."

"This really, to me, is average shoujo at best. There are so many other great representations of this type of manga, and given the opportunity to suggest any number of titles to someone, this wouldn't be at the top of the list. The art is okay, and the storyline it follows is unimaginative and overdone. it just isn't a stellar example."

Full Moon O Sagashite Vol. 1 has that crazy sark of imagination and almost magic-realist fantasy that just doesn't exist in American entertainment. This is a dark and also quirky story about music and love and death and all sorts of stuff. I love it."
