Starz (pronounced "stars") is an American premium cable and satellite TV network service. It is the flagship offering of Starz Inc, which is owned by parent company Lionsgate. Its programming includes theatrically released movies and original television series. Starz made its debut as the 1st phase of a 7-channel thematic multiplex launched by Starz starting in 1993, which was Encore Media Group back then. This quickly changed when Encore decided to position Starz as a competitor to HBO and Showtime. This was after it acquired TV rights to broadcast films by Universal Studios after 1993. It too developed its own multiplex throughout the 1990s.

The biggest change to the service happened around 2005. Starz had dropped the "Encore" brand that it used to always carry with it. It has since branched out and established itself as a service with its own multiplex subchannels. The service introduced a new logo and even a tagline, "Obsessable", back in 2016. It also saw a revamp to its channel line-up, consolidating some of them while gaining new ones. Starz now had 14 channels in its package at that point. That same year, it also launched a new mobile app and an over-the-top subscription service. This was to compete with HBO and Showtime's own offerings. There are plenty of shows on Starz to see.
