"In this slim but powerful work, Kouno accomplishes for manga what "Grave of the Fireflies" did for anime: it offers a sobering portrayal of the horrible effects of war on ordinary people. This is not the "view from 30,000 feet": there is no analysis of the reasons for the bombing, there is no blame assigned, there is no big picture summary. Instead, there is a very vivid, very real account of the short term and long lasting effects of the bombing on three generations of the "everyman" Hirano/Ishikawa family."

"Tatsumi's world is a world quite humane. The words "dark", "intense" are thrown around these days too often. This book is a collection of short stories very much like "The push-Man and other stories" and "Abandon the old in Tokyo". It is dark, intense and at the same time very real glimpses of middle class life in a not so inconceivable place. I, for one, would personally recommend any of Tatsumi's books."

""Fall in Love Like a Comic" represents one of the best entries into the "Slice of Life" genre. It does well in imitating the real life situations that it talks about. I am sure many people will relate to the high school experiences of Rena Sakura. The art is great and the dialogue is well-written. I would recommend this series to anyone interested in manga."

"The best slice of life manga is the Backstage Prince (Vol. 1). It is a coming-of-age story of two teenagers, one a normal high school student and the other a famous kabuki actor. Wonderfully illustrated and written with flair for the dramatic."

"Most people who have read this book have given it three or more stars. However the book has been out for more than 10 years and has had only 12 reviews. The book Max popularity, but seems to be enjoyed by those who actually read it."
