DID YOU KNOW?
Smartwatches are all the rage ever since its invention. The features that come with it make our everyday lives a lot easier. From its built-in GPS and fitness tracker, to its ability to connect with our mobile devices so we have our phone notifications around our wrist, watches have really come far from just telling what time it is. But did you know that three girls once tried to outsmart medical school admissions using smartwatches?
Yup, you’ve read that right. If you’ve seen the Thai movie Bad Genius before and thought it was awesome, well, think again cause these girls did it first! Back in 2016, a group of three females was busted in Thailand as they tried to cheat in a university’s admission test using a couple of smartwatches and eyeglasses with a built-in hidden camera. According to reports, there were three persons who pretended to be applicants of the school and took photos of the exams using their smart glasses, sent it to a tutorial school where people would answer the questions, and then sent back the answers written in code to the persons wearing the smartwatches while taking the exams. Talk about high-tech! The perpetrators were caught after an instructor became suspicious of their thick glasses, and how sketchy they walked out of the classroom, and the students were later black-listed from the university. This elaborate scheme sure proved how much our technology has advanced and the possibilities we could do with it. But like everything else, the backfires of improper usage will hit you hard, so it's better to steer clear of trouble and stick with using these gadgets for what they're made for!
