"It's a great social media management tool that also happens to be a social media search engine for accounts, photos, videos, and such. I got plenty of insight on how to improve our company's social media presence moving forward."

DID YOU KNOW?

The first form of social media began back in 1978? It was the Bulletin Board System or BBS for short. Ward Christensen and Randy Suess created it and used to announce meetings and share info. 1995 gave rise to the concept of personal websites through web hosting services. At the time, it was Geocities that was the go-to web hosting service. It was not until 1997 that the first real social media service came about with SixDegrees. It was shortly followed by Blogger and Livejournal. They were platforms where users could write and share their thought with other people.

By the early 2000s, various social media platforms and services started to appear. It started with Friendster back in 2002. It allowed users to create profiles and connect with people across the world. MySpace came out in 2003, targeted at musicians. That same year, Wordpress came out and the networking site for professionals, LinkedIn. The following three years from 2004-2006 brought about releases of 3 major platforms. Facebook was first then, YouTube followed, and finally, Twitter. Instagram followed a few years later in 2010 to round out all major social media platforms. Millions of people use these services along with their corresponding social media apps. It's no surprise then that users started looking for social media search engines. Tools that would help them keep track of everything. From photos to videos, past post, and even arising trends.

"I wanted to search social media for some Game of Thrones posts, and I knew that between Tumblr, Facebook, and Pinterest, there would be a lot to choose from. However, I didn't want to search each site separately. I wanted to search them all at once. I looked into Mercury Browser on recommendation from a friend. However, this gave me a program that I installed to view the internet. It's a really nice browser, but it's completely unrelated to what I wanted to do."

My results on sputtr arent ever really different than if I use one engine directly. It was great in 2007, pretty pointless now in 2017"

We live in a world that basically requires you to be able to access information 24/7, and a lot of this information is obtained from searching for it. Using this site, I was able to maximize my results and see things that I otherwise wouldn't necessarily have been able to due to differences in algorithms and how information is displayed."

However, I didn't want to search each site separately. I wanted to search them all at once. I checked out BuzzSumo and got a lot of results from a lot of sites! I could sort my results easily to get exactly what I wanted. The only downside is that it searched more than just social media sites, so really, I could have Google'd what I wanted, but I like the interface a lot and the results are all "buzz-worthy"!"

However, like many other topical search engines, it is best used in tandem with other search tools to obtain targeted information without omitting relevant search results. Not enough information was provided supporting this particular search tool as a top pick and clear winner over other search methods and tools."
