    #1A Day in the Life

    A Day in the Life

A Day In The Life is considered by many critics as the best song The Beatles recorded.  As the closing piece of the 1967 seminal album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, it encapsulated the huge creative burst That John Lennon and Paul McCartney were experiencing during the late sixties.

"Ah, A Day In The Life. I very much get why this song is number one on this list. The closing number on Sgt. Pepper's, ,the musique concrete elements on the cacophonous orchestra, the mix of cynicism and world-weariness in John's vocal delivery... its undoubtedly a masterpiece and a pivotal song of the 60s. That said, I find the song tiring and too grandiose 50 years later. To me it has become something like a museum piece - to be admired for its artistic and historical merit, but probably not something I'd like to have at home (or in this case listen frequently). But it IS a great song."

"Granny always played this song. She would dance and wiggle as she doesn't care. I saw a genuine smile on her face. I miss you granny but you remind me of good times everytime I heard this song."

"I love this song. I love The Beatles. Not sure what more can be said about them. My mother was a huge Beatles fan ever since she was a teenager. Her love for them rubbed off onto me because when I was a kid there would always be The Beatles playing. When I hear this song it makes me feel like I am a kid again and me and my mother are in our minivan driving to a youth soccer tourney and singing along to this song. "

"Frank Sinatra once said that Something was the greatest love song ever written, so if that doesn't automatically make Something a top contender for the "best Beatle song ever" rank, then I don't know what would. It amazes me that George grew from writting Don't Bother Me in 1964 to a song as amazing as this (and of course also Here Comes The Sun) just 5 years later. Absolutely top notch song."
