"This spy novel follows a formula I have come to expect from similar series. Hero teams up with a gorgeous female, and then they save the day. Its a bit shallow of a plot, but the formula always works to keep the read interesting."

"It's Tom Clancy at his best. Exceptional detail as one would expect with Clancy. It is really long though, but detailed. It takes on many perspectives of the war and allows you to see it unfold from numerous different vantage points. I especially liked the perspective of the destroyer escorts as they tried to protect the supply convoys keeping NATO supplied in the face of the Russian onslaught. The detail in the ground combat is also stunning. Having spent many years in Iraq both working at the tactical level and the general officer level, I really liked how Clancy is able to jump from one vantage point to another. It's hard to find authors who can write at all levels of a conflict. Some people excel at writing from the strategic level while others are great for the soldiers point of view. Clancy, is one of the few who can write at all levels and keep you wanting more. I really liked this book and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good long read. "

"David Morrell has been writing exceptional thrillers for decades, and The Brotherhood of the Rose is no exception. This was one of my first Morrell titles, and was the one that got me hooked on his books. Raumulas and Remus are expertly defined characters with a great back story. Like many Morrell novels, the book starts mid-way into the story, and then catches you up on the background of the characters with flashbacks. This lets the suspense and action start quickly, while still filling in key background as you need it. And, like many of his novels, there is a nice surprise waiting for you about 2/3 of the way in. Just as you think you've figured out what's going on, you discover you had no idea! This surprise is followed by a last minute twist. Not quite as good as The Fifth Profession, but a very close 2nd place for David Morrell."

"With the first three books in the Night Soldiers series being amazing, I couldn't wait to get my hands on The World at Night, the fourth book in the series. Alan Furst did a wonderful job of intertwining mystery, love and history into this series. The sounds and smells come alive, and the historical context of each European city brings you right into the story. "

"Femme Fetale. Definitely a females book as a spy novel. I bought it for my mother becuase she was really big into the spy genre and romance. This is kind of a combination as Emma Walters gets herself into quite the predicament. This book is interesting, not my first pick as a spy novel but my mother loved it."
