DID YOU KNOW?
Admit it, social media isn't as friendly now as it was 10 years ago. Okay, before you accept this as a sobering reality, you should know that it's not as bad as it was either. In truth, it's actually a lot better nowadays. In this brave new digital world, people are becoming more well-versed about a lot of things. Whether it be about politics, society, or anything in between, people have something to say. Yes, gone are the days when people post motivational quotes on Facebook to gain likes. Now you might be wondering how this is better than those days. Well, did you know that people who post inspirational quotes have lower levels of IQ? But hey, this isn't to say that you should ditch your status shuffle apps on your Android or iPhone. Rather, this is to encourage you to choose what you believe in with discernment.
Researchers from the University of Waterloo found out that there is a link between cognitive ability and the fascination for deep-sounding quotes. In this study, around 300 participants were given various statements. They were then asked to rate each one according to how profound they think it is. The researchers also handed out exams that measure cognitive ability and personality. They reported that those who easily believed seemingly profound quotes are less likely to engage in introspection. Likewise, they are also more prone to subscribe to long-held religious and paranormal beliefs. Thus, they have lower levels of thinking. So if you're looking for the best status shuffles for quotes, make sure they provide you with ones that are sensible and logical!
