"A fun summer read. You aren't reading Hemingway, but you are reading an enjoyable novel that keeps the page turning which most teenagers would really get a kick out of. Perfect for lying on the beach and doing some summer reading. "

"This book and author are fantastic in my opinion. I found it at a rummage sale and really enjoyed it. The main character goes to live with her uncles, who rescue her because she was forced to go to summer camp. Don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the ending is great . The characters and plot are well done and interesting. Highly recommend for students also."

"Readers beware: this isn't your average summer camp book. That's not to say it isn't a good book - it's definitely a gripping read! - but this summer camp isn't all fireflies and stealing kisses at dusk. It's a murder mystery with a romance intertwined. I didn't get butterflies reading this; I got chills up my spine!"

"Is your child heading off to summer camp for the first time? If so, they must bring with them "The Lightning Thief" to pass the time between after activities and before bed. The story will catch their imaginations and keep them hooked page after page. It may even give them something cool to talk about with their peers at camp to help break that initial shyness many young adults may face while being away."

"I could not follow through the entire read because this book was a tad boring. The plot was basic and predictable along with being on a subject that really doesn't interest me. The author should have spiced the book up a bit to make it more interesting."

"It you need a great safe teen romance for a middle schooler especially, this series will be fun for them to follow Alice as she begins high school. A whole series of books starts from this Alice book and would enthrall the tween audience. I wrapped the whole series up, including the last book up for a niece for a summer birthday present."

"This is a book about an urban girl's experiences at a rustic summer camp. It doesn't have many reviews and some of them are quite bad so it doesn't look like a good choice. "

"This book was not what I expected it to be. I thought I was going to read a cute story about going to summer camp with friends. It was actually a dark story about murder, which was quite engaging. As I read through it I wanted to learn more about the murderer and wanted to see him get served justice. This not your typical summer camp young adult novel, but it worth the read."
