"To be honest I had very low expectations for this book. I had seen the movie based on the book and hated it. Luckily the book was WAY better than the movie and boy did it hit my emotions hard. I sobbed during the part where Landon realizes that HE was the miracle the whole time. This book knows how to tug on the heart strings and is a book that will bring the tears."

"I'm always on the lookout for books aimed at young adults since my daughter is an avid reader. I typically read them first though just to make sure the content isn't too vulgar. I ended up picking out "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Clay Asher on a whim after seeing some good reviews. This is just an incredibly depressing tale and it'll definitely make you want to cry. It involves the very serious topic of suicide and ultimately I just thought that it was too sad for me to truly enjoy. It is well written but incredibly dark and you really have to be in the right mindset to get through this one."

"This is a very good solution as it provides the author and a very concise detailed description of the book. It allows the reviewer to understand that the book would be qualified as a "tear-jerker." The only thing it lacks is any mention of the reading level (young adult). "

"It tells the hauntingly believable tale of Sam, a young boy on the cusp of adolescence who has leukaemia. His whole world revolves around this fact - he's home-schooled, his best friend is also sick, and his entire family tiptoes around him. And yet, as life so often proves, it's not full of doom and gloom or death and sickness. In fact, Nicholls' book is genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. The different styles of text are witty and Sam is the kind of boy you'll wish was your best friend too. The actual lists for ways to live forever had me grinning at their brilliance. I will admit, however, that I also cried noisily at several parts. "

"Where She Went by Gayle Foreman is the sequal to If I Stay. I absolutely loved the first book and was a little worried that a sequel would ruin the story, I was mistaken though. Where She Went is a heart rending and heart warming continuation of the story. It will make you smile and cry, just enjoy the ride."

"My daughter had to read this for school so I decided to pick up a copy for myself. I am glad I did. The story is so emotional and really touched my soul. The characters had a lot of depth and the world was beautifully constructed even though it was about something as ugly as slavery. I couldn't put the book down. "

"This is an incredible story about family and betrayal. Though historical fiction, it is not boring or bland. Instead, I was captivated from start to finish - and surprise to learned about actual historical events that I was ignorant about (i.e. Juneteenth). I followed the character from a low to a high to a low, all feeling like it was part of the natural human experience."
