"Epic fantasy novels are some of my favorites at the moment. Finding the best titles can be a real struggle though. A friend passed me the book Destined by Aprilynne Pike as he had heard good things about it. I decided to read it one weekend and was really turned off. It was more romance than fantasy!"

"Magic of Krynn might be one of those books you either love or hate. It certainly has many fans, but this didn't hit me at all and I'm in the hate camp. It's not the worst book I've read, but in terms of epic fantasies, it was definitely lacking and one of the worst things about it, was that it definitely dragged and shouldn't have been an epic."

In Sylvan Shadows seems like it is a good book based on its rating and reviews, but I would not be interested in it because it is book 2 in a series. In order to read it, I'd first have to read book 1 and now I'm wondering if book 1 is any good, what it's title is, and if it's worth a read. I would probably skip over this hit and not check out another recommendation."

It has everything: drama, action, grand tasks and deeply written characters. I have the whole series on my bookshelf. This is actually one of my favourite because it digs deeper into the main character, I find myself picking it up and rereading it as a comforting break when I don't want to move into another new book or series."
