"I really like this pair of tools especially the second one that provides a good analysis of any degradation to my storage devices by checking SSD health. The installation process is a bit confusing at first but once you get it up and running, it's all good."

DID YOU KNOW?

The first solid-state drive came back in 1976? Dataram Memory built it and called it the Bulk Core. It featured a rack-mounted chassis that stood almost 16" long and was 19" wide. It was able to hold up to 8 memory board with 256KB RAM chips each for a total of 2MB of storage. The STC 4305 was a big leap in storage capacity with up to 45MB of data. The biggest downside though was it was the size of a cabinet. The first flash-based SSD released in 1990 by a company called Digipro. They called it Flashdisk and it was compatible with IBM PCs with capacity options from 2MB to 16MB. It wasn't until 2006 when the first consumer flash SSD became available from Samsung. It was a 2.5" drive with 32GB of capacity and a PATA interface.

Since those days, SSDs keep getting faster and cheaper to produce. They also offer much larger capacity options with 128GB being the standard and goes all the way up to 1TB. While prices have dropped by a significant margin, SSDs are still pricey for some. That is why traditional mechanical hard drives are still great options. They're slower by comparison but offer larger capacities and for much cheaper. SSDs have no moving parts thus are less prone damage or failure. There are tools to check SSD health available to you if still want to though. It's never bad to be too careful with these types of things.
