" This is a must-have for the Vonnegut fan or collector. I wish I could say it was outdated but it fits very well into our flawed government and heated political climate. Give it to your friend that gets all of their news from Facebook."

"While people who are already fans of Vonnegut will almost undoubtedly enjoy this particular novel, it might not be the best starting point for someone new to his work. Although it certainly has a darkly comedic and satirical bent, it also touches a lot of heavy themes that might be emotionally difficult to process for some readers. I also feel that Vonnegut goes off on quite a lot of meandering tangents at various points in the book. However, there is much to be gained from reading this book, including some really prophetic messages that apply to our world today, and I would recommend it to readers who are unafraid to explore darker themes."

"Player Piano is the first novel of Vonnegut and I think it fully represents the characteristics of the author. If you like this book, you should also check his several other novels, especially Slaughterhouse Five. If you are not familiar with the author at all, again, begin reading with his first novel, Player Piano."

"I have always enjoyed the cynical pictures of society that Mr. Vonnegut paints. His disgust with civilization is tempered and enhanced by his dry humor as he muses on the nature of our predicament and the foolhardy solutions we employ. This one was written as he was approaching the end of his life, and is a true classic. "

"I would put this low in Vonnegut's top ten, but it is definitely in there. I think I could have been given a more highly-rated book as a result, but this is an okay answer."
