"I have a friend who speaks Urdu and I wanted to get him a book in this language. I am curious about this book. It sounds like it has a lot of content in it, and different types. I just wonder how good it is, since the Amazon link doesn't have any ratings yet. "

"I haven't read any books in Urdu, so it's difficult for me to recommend Toba Tek Singh Raja Gidh. However, I do love to read so I would be excited to give it a try if Khalid Hasan translated it to English. Penguin Books is a good publisher, so I would have high hopes for the book. "

"Aag Kaa Daryaa, wirtten by Qurratulain Hyde, is a bit of question mark. Limited customer reviews makes this book difficult to assess. It does delve into the Pakistani culture, but not much more is available. "

"I bought this book last week and have been enjoying it. The price is a little high for my taste but the book comes in hardback which justifies the price in my opinion. The quality of the print meets my satisfaction and I can recommend this book for those interested in the subject matter."

"I think that Mumtaz is inspiring in his writing regarding his views on Pakistani culture and the Islam religion in general. I like to use his words to come to a place of understanding about a culture that I may not be able to experience first hand at this time. It makes me a more aware citizen of the world to get first-hand knowledge from this contemporary writer. "

"I think that this book is a bit overhyped. It's the story of the author's life and he sees no detail too small to omit. As such, the story is over 900 pages. It tends to drag on at times and there are some anecdotes in the story that really aren't worth telling. There are a lot better books out there than this one."

"I don't know if I'd say this is the best Urdu book out there, but I would say that this is one of the best authors of that region. Kamilla Shamsie is simple eloquent. The writing is clear, gripping, and poetic. I'd check out some of the other books that she has written, if you want an Urdu book because she is fantastic. I started to read her books after checking out a review in our local newspaper. I wasn't disappointed. Really top-notch. This book isn't quite her best, but it's getting there. "
