What are the best vampire movies?

A
Jamuna Rana

Folklore, myths, and legends have plagued humanity since the dawn of time. Whether used as a scare tactic to keep unruly children or not, the majority of these supernatural stories are often about the creatures of the dark. We’ve all heard about the werewolves, the mummies, bigfoot, witches, and even chupacabras. But certainly, we aren’t as fascinated with them as we are with vampires. Why not? Vampires are basically the superior creatures that we secretly fantasize about. Okay, maybe not everyone likes them but a great fraction does. They’ve got it all: brains, looks, and eternal life. They even perfected the anti-aging spell that we mere humans are so obsessed with. Lucky them. Anyway, that’s already an excessive rambling about their beauty but even so, I’ve already established the fact that no one is more camera-ready than a vampire.

Vampires have been scaring us since the early years of the cinema industry. As a matter of fact, after F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu debuted the bloodsucking undead on the big screen in 1922, more movies about these creatures have constantly popped up. You just have to admit it, vampire movies suck. They suck so much that once you start watching, you get sucked into a void of no escape. If you’re like Jamuna Rana who’s into vampire movies, today is your lucky day. Just for you and your curiosity, we cast the net far and wide, searching for the top vampire films—not just the Twilight Saga, Shadow of the Vampire, or Dracula movie—for you to enjoy. So without any further ado, here are the best vampire movies ever!

  1. 1From Dusk Till Dawn

DID YOU KNOW?

Do you have any idea about the bloody truth about vampires? In particular, the idea that the deceased could rise from the dead and harm the living. No monster better exemplifies this than vampires. There was a lot of misunderstanding with how dead bodies would decompose. A corpse's skin would shrink making it seem like the teeth and fingernails have grown longer. As internal organs break down, a dark liquid can leak out from the nose and mouth. It made it seem like the corpse had been drinking blood. Vampires are synonymous with deceases and plague that have occurred throughout history. Tales of vampires were so widespread that even the Vatican intervened. Pope Benedict XIV declared that vampires were "fallacious fictions of human fantasy". Maria Theresa, the only woman to have ruled of Hapsburg also had words of her own. She condemned belief in vampires as nothing more than "superstition and fraud".

Vampires found their way into English literature by the early 1800s. This paved the way for the fictional characters to be born as we know them today. Modern society celebrates vampires than fear them. It's seen with Hollywood depicts these creatures in the vampire movies. In fact, there are so many shows produced about vampires every year that the list of the best vampire TV shows are already long. More than that, vampires have also conquered the land of the rising sun, Japan. The list of the best vampire anime is equally as long as Hollywood TV shows.

"Part of what makes "Cronos" so enjoyable to watch is the sheer amount of fun del Toro and Luppi clearly had making it. It's an easy-going horror movie, if such a thing can actually exist, and the tameness of all the gore and violence makes it very accessible and probably a good place to enter the genre."
