What is it about this bad-guy-turned-good-guy character that draws us to its charisma? Is it its cool-looking appearance on comics and movies? Its overwhelming shapeshifting capability? Well, whatever the reason is, one thing is for sure. It's not always rainbows and butterflies for Eddy Brock when a symbiote manifested his entire being. From a normal looking human, Eddy turned to this black and slimy creature called Venom. It granted him immense and superhuman skills and powers. But, despite the scary facade, we still suck up to the evil (sometimes) alien just to witness mindblowing action. And I am here to tell you that even though the first Venom movie adaptation has already graced the silver screens, you might still be missing all the in-depth backgrounds and backstories. To cure that dilemma, I proudly present this list of the greatest Venom comic books. Give these comics a try before you head off to Venom 2 Carnage hitting the cinemas in October 2020. Well, you might want to read this chronologically or by the level of awesomeness. Your choice, Marvel enthusiasts!
We carefully sifted through a lot of comic books from this series but you may consider Venom: Dark Origin as one of the champions. What makes it one of the best? Well, it is the original story of Eddie Brock, a hopeless journalist, before the Venom symbiote entered his system. In this graphic novel, we get to see Eddie's childhood, the root of his hatred to Spider-man, and his point-of-view before he met the villainous alien creature.
This one stands out from the rest being the most surreal out of all Venom comics. Venom: The Hunger explores Eddie Brocks' mental health as his psyche slowly falls apart. You'll get to see Eddie's separation with the symbiote and the rawness of his character as a human being. Although Venom and Eddie split up by choice, still expect to see a lot the antihero in the Venom: The Hunger.
Considered as Venom's first solo appearance in this miniseries make Venom: Lethal Protector a must-read for every Marvel Comics fan like you. Remember how Venom always turns out to be a bad guy? Well, we can see a hero this time. However, don't expect some goody actions. Venom still has his unique way to serve justice on a hot plate, anyway.
Does the sound of Venom and Spidey tandem excite you? If yes, then Venom: Carnage Unleashed is a must-read! Imagine the hero and villain swinging together across New York, fighting and combining forces against one of their worse adversaries - Carnage. Yep, the unusual duo saved the night on this one.
Okay, hear (or, read) this out. Venom versus Hulk, Punisher, Juggernaut, Morbius, and more. Yep, Venom: The Enemy Within is the real deal for all the action-thirsty fans out there! Now, a little background on the title. Aside from these formidable enemies he had to face, a new element takes over Eddie Brock's body again. Will Eddie survive the new unknown enemey within? Or will he succumb to darkness even more? We'll leave these questions to you so go on and read this to know the answer.
Not all Marvel characters have complex background like Venom. This comic book covers what every Venom fans have to know on the character's backstory. It's a plus that you will get to see how Spider-man acquired the symbiotic suit in this comic book, too. If you're down for that sordid story, click the "Get It" button and buy your own original copy.
You probably know by now that Venom is a multi-faceted villain. In Rick Remender's miniseries Venom, the character takes on a dangerous job from the American government as a covert agent. He will go undercover and perform secret missions in hostile countries. Its appeal is different from the others but nonetheless, the action and thrill in this comic book will not disappoint!
Instead of seeing Eddie, witness Flash Thompson as 'Agent Venom' in the Venom: Space Knight. You may say this is a breath of fresh air from all the "Eddie Brock + Venom" stories ever published. Initially, the symbiote has extraterrestrial origins so seeing it in the space is actually not far from happening. Thompson investigates the backstory of how he acquired the alien suit with the help of his partner.
