The recent update to Skype is really more of a downgrade. By trying to make Skype more like Snapchat, the developers have made it less easy to use while adding features that most older customers and business users have no use for whatsoever. Removing the dialpad makes it impossible to dial extensions, while adding the adding the ability to respond with GIFs or emoticons doesn't add to the functionality of the app whatsoever. I have been looking all over for video call app for my iPhone to speak to my daughter and mom anywhere. I am happy to report that I found an app called FaceTime that works very well. Very good video for me to say hi to my daughter and mom.

It reminds me of Skype or Facebook messenger. It looks very user friendly and colorful. It's nice how it's free to use and it uses the wifi to make the calls instead of using minutes. I like the ease of using GIF and other stickers for entertainment. A great way to stay connected with your friends and family local and international. More

I loathe this app. It's supposed to be an equivalent replacement for Skype? Not for me. It feels as nasty as Facebook, but on your phone! The stupid face effects are annoying, and the group feature not worthwhile for adults. Maybe I'm just not the target demographic? More

I've been using Hangouts since the beginning and yeah I still recommend it. It works well, is cross platform and is far leaner than Skype which is a bloated mess. It also has some good call quality which is something in my area I need because even when I have great reception the quality is still iffy when I use regular phone calling, Hangouts has no problems. I don't know if there is a best app for video chatting but I know the most common ones are from Facebook and FaceTime. I've never actually heard of Paltalk but it's another option. More
