DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that the first item Amazon has ever sold was a book? Before becoming the internet's biggest retail giant, Amazon started off an online bookstore. Founder Jeff Bezos had only his garage as his warehouse. He has the first sale on his website on April 3, 1995, when someone bought a book titled Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies by Doug Hofstadter. Because everything started off at home, Bezos had to procure a bigger mailbox in order to accommodate his the number of mail his then small company sent and received. This iconic mailbox can still be found in his home in Bellevue, Washington. Over time, Bezos' humble internet startup began to progressively grow bigger. One of his first investors were actually his parents, who pitched in $300,000 from their retirement fund to help their son. Now, Amazon grew its revenue to a staggering $177 billion. Bezos' parents must be so proud —and rich!
Now, you can find thousands of books on Amazon as well as an extensive number of other products for all your needs. There are also hundreds of Amazon subsidiaries. Many people patronize the website on a daily basis that apps to get free gift cards on Amazon have been popping out here and there. Bezos' tech giant also leads in shopping innovation through services like Amazon Go. With all the things that Amazon has to offer, the future of shopping may well be in their hands.
