"What's really interesting about this weapon is that it can make your opponents be your allies. If you combine it with the high damage of this spear, it can be effective for groups of enemies and boss."

DID YOU KNOW?

NieR: Automata was written and directed by the enigmatic Yoko Taro. While initially not intending to pursue a career in video games, Taro, one month after graduating from the Kobe Design University, started as a 3D CGI designer for Namco Limited, a company that would later become Bandai Namco Games. Taro’s first nine years were mostly in design across three companies, working as the background designer for Alpine Racer 2 and Time Crisis II; planner for Chase the Express; and finally, game designer and visual designer for the Japan-exclusive Phase Paradox. But Taro finally got to showcase his talent for writing when he became the director and scenario writer of Clavia’s Drakengard. While the game as a whole had mixed to positive reviews, the game’s biggest strength was the story that was written by Taro and Sawako Natori. That said, Taro felt unhappy with the number of changes asked for by the board, opting to not be a writer for Drakengard 2. When the sequel was completed, he started work on what later became NieR, a spin-off title for one of Drakengard 2’s endings. After NieR’s release, Taro jumped between going freelance and unemployment until 2014, when he and Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito met with PlatinumGames and Taro was made the director and scenario writer for, you guessed it, NieR: Automata.

NieR: Automata is considered as Taro’s greatest work to date, praised for both Taro’s writing and game design direction, the latter of which features numerous difficult battles.
