"This watch does a lot of things, but you really can't use any of them at the same time, which kind of defeats the purpose. For example, the watch works as a GPS watch for running, and it also works as a remote control for your music, but you can't use both at the same time. What a complete waste!!!!! I bought this to replace a 6 year old Garmin Forerunner that no longer holds a charge. As a GPS watch, this Vivoactive is a nice replacement, since it's close to the same price that I paid for the old watch that didn't do anything extra and took 3 minutes to find a GPS signal (the Vivoactive was only $10 more expensive at $120 and picks up a signal immediately). I have to keep reminding myself of that, since I seem to get angry every time I use the watch and realize that I can't really use any of the other features when I run. Speaking of the music feature, I was really excited to find out that this watch acts as a remote control for your music. This solves my problem of having to hold my phone in my hand on a long run (or hike), or having to constantly pull it out of my waist pouch or yank off my arm band to change songs (or using my wireless headphones and accidentally pulling them out of my ear). I read that this feature worked well for Android phones but was limited on iPhones, only working for iTunes but not for apps like Spotify. I am happy to report that it DOES WORK FOR SPOTIFY!!!! on the iPhone. The biggest let down though, is that if you are using one of the fitness apps (like you are on a run, and have the run app going so you can see your time, distance and speed), you can't scroll out of the running screen to change your music (major fail- completely defeats the purpose for me)."

"I like the idea behind this fitness tracker. I like a LOT of the things that you can do with it. The problem is, the multitude of "likes" is offset by the one issue that has bugged my VivoActive HR since I purchased it two months ago. Every so often, while I have it plugged into my computer USB port for charging, it has the annoying issue of updating itself and causing problems that will make any fitness junkie just gnash his teeth in frustration. You can download apps from the app store and they sure come in handy...until the aforementioned update ends up wiping them out. For example, I never cared much for the standard watch face so I downloaded one that was more to my liking. I also downloaded a hiking app so that it would keep track of my activity when I was out for my 3-times per week hike. Then I plugged it in to recharge and bang...the apps are no longer there, and I have the original watch face back. The first time it happened, the device was about 3 weeks old. I figured maybe it was some sort of anomaly, so I downloaded the 2 apps again and went through the process of adjusting the settings to my preference. Then about a month later and son of a gun, doesn't it do it all over again. This morning my apps were gone. So now I have to browse the app store and try and remember which ones I downloaded the first time. Fortunately I had written down the exact name of the apps that I liked, so it was less of a nightmare than I might have dealt with. But after two times, the watch has taken its place in the desk drawer and I've just gone back to my standard Timex Ironman wristwatch. Sure, it doesn't track my steps, my calorie burn, my activities, but I'm OK with that. All those things are great if they aren't offset by this annoying habit of the watch to delete everything I've installed on it! Come on Garmin, do your homework and your beta testing. I spent my entire life working in quality control and my company would have been out of business if we put out products with that level of reliability. The answer is not in a computer forum where you try and find someone else with the same (unresolved) problem. The answer is to manufacture a GPS Smart Watch with a better pattern of reliability. Buy one if you like, maybe you'll have better luck than I did, but be prepared. "

"The Garmin Forerunner 920XT is an activity tracker with plenty of options that works great inside the pool. I no longer have to try to remember how many laps I've swum or how many yards I need to cover. This device makes it easy for me to track my strokes and map my distance. It has useful features such as a pool rest timer, a lap counter and a metronome for run and stroke cadences. I also like that i that it can sync over both WiFi and Bluetooth which makes it more convenient to use."

"I get most of my exercise from swimming and thought it would be great to get a fitness tracker that would record my exercise from swimming. I like the Waterfi because it is waterproof and you can wear it while in the water and use it to track your progress. I do see that it only has 3.5 star reviews so I'm wondering if it's the best on the market. It also isn't actually for sale on Amazon so I'm wondering if it's something I can still actually purchase. Overall, there's some things I like but I will probably keep looking for a watch that is available right now."
