DID YOU KNOW?
Project Free TV disappeared from the Internet on July 24, 2017? Despite the nature of its name, it didn't host any actual videos on its site. Instead, the site is obtaining links to free videos from various sources all over the web. So how does it go about obtaining these links, you may ask. It's through a "complex system of automatic indexers, robotic scripts and user submissions". While its origins are vague, its speculated that it's been around since 2009. It wasn't until 2015 that it gained recognition on the Internet. It would change domains or shut out from time to time. It all led its eventual closure back in 2017 though.
The circumstances behind its disappearance have been vague. There's no denying though that it was operating under questionable circumstances. It functioned as a search engine to go look for free videos online. This is also regardless if the videos in question were illegal or not. The site does acknowledge that it's possible that it's hosting illegal links. It is not grounds for legal action though. Streaming services are everywhere on the Internet, both legal and not. Despite all the controversy with the site, this has not stopped others though. Websites like Project Free TV keep popping up since its disappearance. Free is free, after all.
