Yes, whether it's from Hollywood or Bollywood, they all want to see titles dubbed in their mother tongue. After all, there's no better way to understand and enjoy what you're watching than to see it in a language you're comfortable with. But have you ever wondered why people of the South Indian state and Sri Lanka love their language so much? Why do they take pride in their language more than anyone in the world? There are many reasons, but this one might just blow your mind.
Did you know that Tamil is the oldest language in the world? But lo and behold, that's not all! Did you also know that it's the first language human spoke! Yes, you read that right. Tamil is even considered the mother of all languages. Some claim that at one point, all humans spoke Tamil. There is also reason to believe that the language has been around even before Sanskrit existed. According to scholars, it was linguist Robert Caldwell who found more than 20 Tamil words in Vedas. He coined the term Dravidian languages and concluded that Tamil was the first classical language.
