DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that all the performances on the 2018 remake of A Star is Born were sung live? It is a fact that Joanne Stefani Germanotta, or Lady Gaga, can sing, but she has no film experiences. But the lead actor and director Bradley Cooper is not a natural singer. In fact, this remake is both a first for them as A Star is Born marks Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, and Lady Gaga's movie acting debut. With that said, the singer-actress relied on his director to get great performance - in one condition: Gaga asked Cooper that they sing every song live. Because of that, the actor-director prepared three years for 42-days worth of the film's production phase.
They ditched the tradition of pre-recording the songs that will be lip-synced on set, which is easier said than done. Another thing to consider in this method is the live audience recording their performances prior to the premiere. But thanks to the film crew, they were all able to pull off the unorthodox production approach. Music editor Allan Murray and sound mixer Steve Morrow utilized a method called impulse response. In this method, Morrow had a surround-sound mic in the center of every set they're shooting. He even used two 32-channel mixers and recorded over 60 different tracks at a time. Steve Morrow said in an interview: “If the audience doesn’t feel that they’re watching a movie but rather a great concert, we’ve succeeded.” So you might as well check out free movie download sites specifically websites to download A Star is Born to watch the outcome of the process they used.
