DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that the oldest video rental store in existence was opened in 1975? The video rental store from Kassel, Germany was named Videothek and was owned by 78-year old Eckhard Baum. Although due to the rise of online video-on-demand websites like Netflix, Baum admits that this line of business is already close to its end, especially since these sites also offer subscribers the option to rent movies online. Despite this, he continues to run his store, claiming that he carries on due to his reluctance to stay at home and his willingness to communicate with the younger generation. He also stated that since he was the first to dive into this business, he also wants to be the last in his city, at the very least.

With internet access being so easily accessible worldwide, watching movies is now possible even without leaving our homes. Nowadays, renting movies online is as easy as visiting a streaming service website or app, searching for the film title, and hitting that "Rent" button. Being able to watch your film isn't all too difficult as well, seeing as how almost all platforms are now compatible with these websites, along with a number of streaming devices.

"Content wise, itunes have a great selection of movies to rent. However, it is not as many as those on amazon and netflix. I also agree that itunes is good for iOS users as they won't need third party apps like itunes on Windows, so for Mac users, I am recommending this. Great website to rent movies.. and buy series per episode!"

"I have gone to different websites to rent movies online but I think Amazon has a lot more classic movies, like older movies. And if you are into indie films, you might want to try to subscribe to them. Amazon is good for those who do not want to pay a monthly subscription and would rather pay for individual movies."

"I asked my friend where to rent movies online and they were laughing at me and said didn't I realize that I could actually rent on Netflix for a cheaper price. Although I recommend subscribing to the premium service if you wanna enjoy the ultra HD option bcos the basic account doesn't have HD movies."
