"while crunchyroll may be the king of anime streaming, it doesn't have everything. yes, vrv connects angel beats to crunchyroll but hey, the same subscription lets me watch other anime on hidive so win-win!"

Angel Beats was an anime with stunning visuals—courtesy of animation studio P.A. Works—and a gripping story written by Jun Maeda, the writer behind various anime from the 2000s that many deem as classics. Maeda was one of the founders of the game development company Key, alongside Itaru Hinoue, Naoki Hisaya, and Shinji Orito, all of whom were former employees at the now-defunct Tactics. Maeda is still one of the most prominent figures in the company and is also one of the remaining co-founders still working at Key (the other being Shinji Orito). He has provided compositions for all of Key’s visual novels, with exception to Planetarian and the PS Vita port of Rewrite. However, Maeda’s greatest recognition is for his writing ability. He was the scenario writer for two of the main heroines of “Air”, one of the two scenario writers (alongside Naoki Hisaya) for “Kanon”, the main scenario writer for the main heroine Rin in “Little Busters!”, and the co-scenario writer for the visual novel of “Angel Beats!”. But one of Maeda’s greatest works was in Key’s third title and their second longest to date, Clannad. Maeda was one of the main scenario writers of the game and had written approximately 75% of the content, not including his work on the spin-off “Tomoyo After”.

Sadly, after “Little Busters!”, Maeda stepped down from scenario writing but has continued to contribute as a composer. He has, however, contributed his writing efforts to two original anime: “Charlotte” in 2015 and “Angel Beats!”, the latter of which you can watch online! So grab your popcorn, tune in to one of these websites to watch Angel Beats online, and get ready to laugh and cry for one of the best TV anime of 2010 (mostly crying, knowing Jun Maeda).
