They have sold over $52.5 billion in character merchandise globally. With more than 60 million Disney products selling annually in India, 20 million Indian households buying different merchandise, and more than 1 million books, they became a huge market for the Disney company. They look at this as a promising situation where Indian families have warmed up to the Disney brand. Other than the merchandise, Disney decided to make Indian versions of their TV shows. Such as Best of Luck Nikki which was inspired by Good Luck Charlie. And the Suite Life of Karan and Kabir adapted from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. These are shows that are adjusted for the Indian familial values.
Other than these shows, the acquisition of Marvel and Star Wars has definitely pushed Disney's profits. It now has the ability to offer shows and merchandise for all age brackets. And they didn't stop there. They even made sure that their products are affordable to all social class. Disney was able to do this by making sure they'd be able to stay as strong storytellers. By making characters and stories that would be timeless for everyone. They are one of the largest companies globally when it comes to entertainment.
