When you think of manga artist, Yuki Tabata, you probably know him for his debut work, Hungry Joker. This was his winning entry into the 2011 Shonen Jump Golden Future Cup and got him his big break. The one-shot was picked up for serialization shortly after. For his first work as a manga artist, it was generally well-received by readers and critics alike. It had a good story and very likable characters. Some readers have taken issue with its departure from the original one-shot though. The series came to an end after 24 chapters in 2013. Tabata was quick to work on a new one-shot and published it in Jump NEXT magazine just a year later. That series was called Black Clover. It began serialization in February of 2015 with Weekly Shonen Jump.

Taking cues from his first work, Tabata has remained more faithful to the one-shot version this time around. As of April of 2019, that series has already published 202 chapters and is still ongoing. The series was picked up for an anime adaptation and the Black Clover anime debuted in 2017. For those unfamiliar with the series, allow us to give a brief introduction. Everyone in the Clover Kingdom is born with a natural ability to perform magic. The story revolves around Asta and Yuno, abandoned orphans that have been raised at a church. Yuno has always been adept at magic. Asta however, is unable to use any magic at all so he makes up for this through physical training. They are both are chosen to become Magic Knights and receives their grimoire. Yuno receives the power of the wind while Asta doesn't awaken anything. It was only during a life-threatening situation that Asta was able to awaken his powers, a rare anti-magic ability called Black Clover. Interested yet? In that case, check out our list of some of the best websites to watch Black Clover online and let us know what you think of it.

"Yuki Tabata has definitely learned for the way he handled Hungry Joker before. The manga and the subsequent Black Clover anime is much more faithful to their source material. While it's still not a perfect adaptation, it's very close."
