DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that the Dorohedoro anime's director already worked on another Netflix exclusive anime? 'Kakegurui' aired in 2018 and was seen as one of the biggest Netflix ventures in Japan to this date. Both anime series is directed by Hayashi Yuuichirou and his work seems to be characterized by certain distinct elements. Based on observations, Yuuichirou likes to make use of cinematography as an extension of the character's nature. Based on what was seen on 'Kakegurui', the upcoming 'Dorohedoro' anime can be another iconic series. Barring any negative reviews, it can be one of the best anime on Netflix to be created. One of the many things that make Dorohedoro interesting is that it embraces the use of CGI. With a certain stigma about CGI anime still existing, the resume of the anime's background artist, Shinji Kimura, can be a sigh of relief. His past works include anime favorites like 'Akira' and 'Space Adventure Cobra'. Based on Dorohedoro's trailer, the background indicates a very meticulously-done yet imaginative dive into "the Hole".
The hype that anime gets around the world today has been capitalized on by streaming giants such as Netflix. If its licensing and distribution deals of anime shows are an indication, one can say that 'anime' is going nowhere but up. With the past choices of Netflix on manga adaptations, it can be safe to assume that 'Dorohedoro' will be as mind-blowing as its predecessors. Some shows have reverted back to being a manga to save its name after an underwhelming on-screen adventure. But with the bizarre world that Q Hayashida's Dorohedoro has created, seeing it on screen could only be a thrill for otakus everywhere.
