Dragon Ball Super is a Japanese manga series and anime TV series written by Akira Toriyama. The manga is illustrated by Japanese manga artist Toyotarou. It began serialization in Shueisha's shonen manga magazine V Jump in June 2015. This new series serves as the sequel to the original Dragon Ball manga and Dragon Ball Z TV series. An anime adaptation of the manga series was produced by Toei Animation and on Fuji TV from July 2015 to March 2018. The story follows the adventures of Goku and his friends after they defeated Majin Buu and brought peace to the world. After a time of peace and prosperity, a new threat has come along to disrupt the peace and put the whole universe in chaos. Goku and his friends face off against beings that are far more powerful than anyone that they have faced before. Chief among them is one of the universe's deities, Beerus.
In order to defeat these beings. Goku must get stronger even more and what better way to defeat gods than by being one as well. This is exactly what he did and now he wanders the galaxy in search of the next great and more powerful opponents. The series debuted to mostly positive reviews and chief among them was the huge improvement in the quality of the art style and animation.
