What are the best websites to watch free documentaries?

A
Gayle Anderson

A documentary film is a non-fictional, motion picture that is meant to document reality. This is mainly for educational and instructional purposes as well as to maintain a proper historical record. A documentary has been described in various ways over the years. For one, it has been described as "a filmmaking practice, a cinematic tradition, and mode of audience reception that is continually evolving and is without clear boundaries". Today's documentary films are a far cry from what they started as in the beginning. For one, they used to be called "actuality films" and they did not exceed one minute in length. Over time though, they have evolved to be longer in length and to include more categories. Some examples are educational, observational, and docufiction.

Documentaries are, by their nature, meant to be informative works. This is why they are often used within schools, as a resource to teach students. Social media has become a part of our daily lives and its various platforms have helped with the growth of the documentary film genre. Social media has spread far and wide all over the world and is easily accessible by just about anyone. This provides people chances to learn and expand their knowledge through documentary films. If you want to explore this film genre more, there are some places where you can watch documentaries for free. Check them out below and learn a thing or two in the process.

"Come on you can basically find everything on YouTube. This is where i usually watch documentary films and series. The downside though sometimes those docus that are produced by tv networks can be removed due to copyright infringement if they are uploaded by the unofficial youtube account of the tv network."
