We’re all suckers for superheroes flying around in their shiny costumes saving the day using their superpowers. Among many superheroes, one family has got us hooked on their story. Remember the Parrs? They were stuck in a world where using their gifts was considered a crime. Tough luck. Just imagine how annoying it must’ve felt to be blessed with a power that not everyone has but you can’t use it. Not now, not ever. Luckily we’ve seen how Bob, Helen, their kids, and the rest of the superheroes fought long and hard to be able to use their superpowers legally in the first installment of The Incredibles. Many years after, we’re finally able to know how their victory changed their lives. After years of hiding and suppressing their gifts, Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone, and the rest of the supers are back in business.
Unfortunately, it’s not always rainbows and sunshine in paradise. Mr. Incredible and the now Mrs. Incredible is faced with the reality of raising a family. While they both may be filled with excitement being back in commission, they still have to raise their kids Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack and do their duties as parents. Did you know that Incredibles 2 holds the title for the longest waiting time between a Pixar film and its sequel? That's quite surprising knowing that it is not only one of the best Pixar movies but also one of the best animation movies ever. Incredibles 2 was only released last June 15, 2018, and took fourteen years later to release since the first animated movie in 2004. Since the first Incredibles, a lot of emerging ideas that have not been implemented then due to the lack of technology were included in the sequel. An example of this would be Jack Jack’s new “goo” superpower which they only added to Incredibles 2. Speaking of Jack-Jack, his voice actor for both movies remains the same because the voice of Incredibles’ Supervising Animator Tony Fucile’s son, Eli who was an infant then and teenager now was used. Years ago, Fucile followed his son around with a boom mic and recorded his baby noises.
Another incredible fact about The Incredibles 2 you probably don't know is that the Parrs are based on the stereotypes that are associated with a family. That's according to the Incredibles 2 director, Brad Bird as he shared with Buzzfeed that “Men are always expected to be strong, so I had Bob have super strength. Mothers are always pulled in a million different directions, so I had [Helen] be elastic. Teenagers are insecure and defensive, so I had Violet have force-fields and invisibility. Ten-year-olds are energy balls that can’t be stopped. And babies are unknown — maybe they have no powers, maybe they have all powers, we don’t know.” The Incredibles 2 combines both super and human elements in their film and this marks as Pixar’s first sequel with a human perspective or point of view.
