DID YOU KNOW?
The Jumanji film was based on a children's picture book of the same name? It was created by Chris Van Allsburg back in 1981. In fact, he also contributed to the film's script and for the sake of the story. In an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, he stated the importance of the story in the film. He states that there are anarchy and chaos and something uncontrollable. It's all happening inside an environment that we associate with control, the house. He stated in another interview what inspired him to write Jumanji in the first place. It had something to do with the board game, Monopoly. "They seemed kind of exciting, but when I was done with the game, all I had was fake money", he said. “So I thought that it would be fun and exciting if there were such a thing as a game board where whenever you landed on a square and it said something was going to happen, then it would really happen.”
The film would become something that would give a thrilling adventure and anxiety at the same time. It was an instant classic that has a special place in our hearts and memories. In 2012, there were rumors of a Jumanji reboot in the works. It came true with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle movie releasing in 2017. It featured a charming and funny cast such as Kevin Hart and Jack Black. It even brought on Dwayne Johnson, that has been enjoying immense popularity and everyone's "It" guy right now. Jumanji: The Next Level, its sequel, was released on December 13, 2019. The waiting game for more crazy adventures and thrills is over!
