DID YOU KNOW?
Limetown: From Reel to Real!
Did you know that the pilot episode of the podcast show Limetown almost never made it on air? Who would have thought this podcast series will be able to thrill everyone to bits just after soon it was released in 2015? It's actually pretty inspiring to know the real story behind the podcast hit Limetown. In an article written by Maggie Jones for Knox News, she revealed that the executive producers of the show Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie reached out to different media companies for the pilot episode. Well, they got rejected and decided to just make it available on iTunes. Guess what? In 2015, by some random twist of fate, good news came knocking on Akers' door, saying Limetown was featured on iTunes podcast homepage! After a short while, listeners and downloads of Limetown skyrocketed, making it the No. 1 podcast show on iTunes, became one Vulture's 10 Best Podcasts, and dominated almost all podcast apps!
Looking back, it all started when Akers and Bronkie attended film school at the New York University. The next thing we know is they already founded a company called Two Up Productions. But really, believe it or not, it's as if the universe conspired in helping them achieve their initial plan since 2015. The initial plan? Well, to turn the podcast into a TV series. With Akers and Bronkie's unprecedented efforts in pitching to different networks, their dream materialized in December 2018. Thanks to Facebook Watch, Limetown was given series order, comprising 10 episodes.
