Skyscraper is an action film that was written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. The film features an ensemble cast led by Dwayne Johnson, Neve Campbell, and Chin Han. The film's story follows Will Sawyer, a former US Marine war vet turned FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) leader. Sawyer loses his left leg in an unfortunate incident when he and his fellow HRT colleague encountered a hostage taker with a suicide bomb. 10 years later, he works as a private security consultant that is hired based on the recommendation of his former colleague. He conducts a security review for the world's tallest skyscraper located in Hong Kong called "The Pearl". Things turn for the worse when the building is invaded by terrorists and is set ablaze. What started as a simple security inspection becomes a race for time as Sawyer rescues his family who also happens to be in the building.

The film released in the US in July of 2018 and grossed over $300 million worldwide against a budget of $125 million. It received to generally positive reviews. Critics praised Dwayne Johnson for his performance and the film's various suspense sequences. Others were less enthusiastic about the film though saying that it did not try to do anything new in the action film genre.
