It was already been 33 years since the critical and commercial success of Top Gun. But on June 26, 2020, Tom Cruise will return to the big screen as Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell on Top Gun: Maverick. Joseph Kosinski assumed the directorial responsibility from the late Tony Scott in this sequel. Aside from Cruise, another returning actor for this motion picture is Val Kilmer. He will reprise his role as Vice Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, the friend and former rival of Cruise's on-screen character. Whiplash actor Miles Teller also joins the cast to portray the role of Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw. Will he be a big part of the storyline? Let's take a look at what this new film is all about!

Did you know that Top Gun: Maverick became involved in a controversy? Even before the movie premiered on the big screen, it has already sparked a discussion online because of a wardrobe continuity issue. Some fans of the original Top Gun flick were quick to spot some changes to Maverick's trademark jacket in the sequel's trailer at Comic-Con. In the 1986 film, his jacket had four flag patterns on its back — two of which were the flags of Japan and Taiwan. However, in a photo taken from the new trailer, it seems that the said flags were removed and got replaced by two new and unidentifiable flags with the same color scheme. There are some speculations that the change was due to the storyline, but others think that it is way beyond entertainment anymore. Given the fact that the movie partly funded by Tencent Pictures, a Chinese film distributor, there were people who think that there was a political influence behind it. For those who don't know, China and Japan have long had a not so good relationship. And a display of alliance between the United States, Japan, and Taiwan is one that would poke the attention of Chinese moviegoers. Additionally, China is one of the world's largest film market. What do you think is the reason behind the wardrobe change? The best websites to watch Top Gun: Maverick online is not yet available since the movie is not yet theatrically released.
