DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that the human voice undergoes a process called ‘presbyphonia’? It is a condition that shows itself by changing the quality of the human voice in different ways. This condition happens as part of the natural human aging process. With this process, the voice may sound thinner and rougher. The voice may also sound less pitchy and start to be more prone to vocal fatigue. This shift in voice character occurs and it is basically due to natural changes within the human larynx or voice box as part of the aging process. Various studies state various findings of changes in a human voice. One study from the University of Pittsburgh suggests that a woman’s pitch typically drops as part of aging while a man’s pitch rises slightly. Such a study's finding is attributed to different factors. For men, these pertain to atrophy of muscles in the vocal folds while hormonal changes leading to menopause are cited for women.
On the other hand, technology has also created ways to recreate voices artificially for various reasons. Others use the best voice changers in order to enhance sound production for music, while some are into it for speech education. These new voice changer software tools and applications are used widely for different purposes from a voice changer for calls and many more. As human’s aging process changes its natural voice, the advance of technology also does the same.
