What are the best yaoi manga?

If you are an otaku fan, you should already know most of the top manga titles that have hit the mainstream. With manga kingpins like One Piece and Naruto, the depth of understanding for this kind of literature has often been explored by fans. While not all genres of manga are able to hit the limelight and be popular, these titles still often maintain a steady cult following. Far off from the super famous shonen and isekai manga titles that we know, there exists the yaoi genre. You might not hear much about it, but it is thought off to be an offshoot of the shojo genre that targeted primarily women and girls. With that said, you might already think that these kinds of literature show handsome guys and some intense emotions. Well, you're right!

First appearing in the 1070s, yaoi manga dares to appeal to its audience by way of showcasing homosexual relationships. However, it is not targeted towards a homosexual audience as it tries to gain popularity towards females. With so much fan-fiction being part of otaku culture, this style of manga seems to be gaining more and more traction. You can instantly read adult yaoi comics just almost everywhere nowadays. If you are interested in themes that involve love and attraction in a non-traditional sense, this might work for you. In an industry that is dominated by common themes and stories, it is a breath of fresh air to see something like this once in a while. In this list, we have some of the best yaoi manga that you can jump into.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that Boku no Pico is one of the most controversial anime series of all time? It falls under the Yaoi genre, also known as boys' love (BL), which features a relationship of two males. It is also categorized as Shotacon, which is about a relationship between an adult man and a young boy. This is where the controversy comes in. It sparked outrage from people who view this as a child pornography and pedophilia. Due to the fact, it has very little plot, no character development and a typical example of a hentai anime. This anime centers on a 10-year-old boy named Pico and his sexual encounters. Yes, a lot of you might cringe about that but there is so much more to it. Although Boku no Pico falls under the Yaoi genre, it is not one of the best Yaoi manga. Why? Because it is a Shotacon OVA series, it is not a manga. But it has a one-shot manga chapter released.

If you are interested to read Yaoi manga, there are many stories to check out from Loveless and Crimson Spell. These stories are usually focused on the high school years. It usually has happy endings and gives a feeling of romance and sexual tension. Although, the best BL manga out there might not leave your heart aching it will be emotionally satisfying for you.

"I think that, if you are a fan of yaoi manga, you probably know more or less what to expect going into "Recipe (Reshipi)." Yaoi manga is, more or less, a rather esoteric genre--one that is often stigmatized. With that being said, I read it with an open mind, and boy was I surprised! A classic tale of young romance with a beautiful plot that will surely play deeply into the emotions of any who might brave its pages."

"This is probably my favorite yaoi manga because it's both sexy and it actually has a really interesting plot. I like seeing how Bald and Havi interact both as human and how things change(in a good way) when Bald is the beast. Their relationship develops smoothly and to top it off the intimate parts are intense. I admit, sometimes it even makes me blush."

From the link, all we can see is that it is volume 1 of a Japanese comic book series. There is no other description at all. If someone is a fan of manga, then maybe they just know about this book from other sources?"

"Very nice book on manga. I decided to give it a try as I don't often read this genre. I found the characters well written and with depth. They were very believable in their situations and relationships to others. Both characters must try to overcome their issues and deal with them. A very emotional book. Not for young readers though."
