Karaoke is a Japanese-made interactive entertainment machine or video game in which people have to sing along to instrumental versions of popular songs. The songs almost always have lyrics provided so singers can sing along to the beat and rhythm. Karaoke is a compound of two Japanese words, "kara" and "okesutora". These words translate roughly to "empty" and "orchestra", respectively.
