Boba Fett is more of a mercenary

Yes, Boba Fett is more of a mercenary, unlike The Mandalorian who abides by his true identity as a warrior. This difference between The Mandalorian and Boba Fett might be not easy to point out, though. The Mandalorian's adoration of Beskar steel best explains this as such a connection with that sacred relic is part of his code as a warrior. Basically, The Mandalorian fights with his cause and identity on top of his head, while Boba, as we all know, eventually wore his fallen father's armor as a sign of revenge. This makes Boba a mercenary more than anything.

The Mandalorian operates in a worse landcape

If you are a Star Wars fan who pays close attention to the timeline of events where 'The Mandalorian' takes place, you will know that he might just have gone into extreme measures to make ends meet. Remember that Boba Fett went about his business during the period of Emperor Palpatine's tyranny wherein everything in the galaxy was under some sort of control. This was not the case for The Mandalorian himself as during his timeline, there was no order and survival must have been much harder to attain.

The Mandalorian has a better code of honor

As one will see in lots of situations in 'The Mandalorian', Pedro Pascal's character is someone who has a personal code of honor, one which is tied to his roots from Mandalore. Unlike Boba Fett, whose code solely relies on himself with no larger thought or philosophy to back it up, The Mandalorian's code largely affects his decisions, making him look like he isn't just after the bounty after all.

Boba Fett is not from Mandalore

One significant difference that Star Wars fans need to know is that Boba Fett isn't really a Mandalorian. Yes, he may look so much like those who hail from Concord Dawn, which happens to be within the Mandalore territory but he is a totally different kind of bounty hunter. If you know Boba Fett's father, then you will understand some things about his true nature. His father, Jango Fett, was once disowned by the Mandalorian government, making Boba a non-citizen of such race.

The Mandalorian is a better person than Boba Fett

We know that bounty hunters aren't necessarily the best species you will meet in the Star Wars galaxy, that is if you are able to. Based on the nature of their job alone, one would not dare mess with them. The Mandalorian, however, works for the welfare of his tribe, unlike Boba who operates a full-blown wanderer with no cause about other people whatsoever. So, if you were to choose one of them to be your friend, you already know whom to pick.
