Narcos: Mexico is a crime drama web TV series that was created and produced by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro. It premiered on Netflix in November 2018 and was intended to be the 4th season of the Netflix series Narcos. In the end, though, it was developed to be a companion series to it. As the title suggests, the show focuses on the illegal drug trade in Mexico. The original Narcos show centered on the illegal drug trade in Columbia. Narcos: Mexico explores how the modern war on drugs began. The show begins around the time when Mexican traffickers were still a disorganized group. Mostly, independent small-time cannabis growers and dealers. During this time, the Guadalajara Cartel rose into power during the 1980s and was led by Felix Gallardo. It aimed to unify the traffickers in order to build his own drug empire. It also follows a DEA agent named Kiki Camarena, that moves with his wife and son to a new post in Guadalajara. He soon realizes that his new assignment is more than he could have imagined.
The show has garnered positive reviews from critics and viewers when it premiered. The show was described as "dangerous, thrilling, and highly addictive". It expertly expands on the franchise by exploring new territories in the drug war's long and grim history. If you've watched the first season already, you'll know that these are quite accurate and valid. Narcos: Mexico season 2 is nearly upon us and we can't help but wonder what we could expect in the new season. So we made a little list about it. Check out some of the biggest things to expect from Narcos: Mexico season 2 below and tell us what you thought.
The new season will pick-up right where the last season left off. We can expect Felix Gallardo to attempt to take his narcotic business to new heights. We have to wait and see just how exactly he plans to go about this new ambition undertaking of his but we bet it will have a lot to do with the cocaine business.
This has already been revealed in the finale of season 1 that a new DEA agent will be arriving in town. This new DEA agent is named Walt Breslin and he seeks justice for the murder of fellow DEA agent Kiki Camarena. Camarena's kidnapping and death were planned and ordered by Felix back in the first season of the show.
Anyone who is familiar with the story of the war on drugs will know the name El Chapo. It is the nickname of the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the most infamous drug traffickers in the world. Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman is one of the most notorious criminals of the past century known for his brutality as well as his clever business sense. We should expect to see more of him in Narcos: Mexico season 2.
We know that Felix Gallardo was forced to strike a delicate trade deal with the Cali Cartel as well as with Pablo Escobar. It was only expected, seeing that he was getting tired of the marijuana business and had better distribution channels in the US to move product. This season, we might see Felix free himself from this deal, without any consequences even.
Felix Gallardo will run a divided empire as Narcos: Mexico season 2 arrives. We got to see a glimpse of Felix Gallardo's morally dark side in the first season of the show. After a series of bad and reckless decisions, cracks are starting to show in this seemingly mighty drug empire. With the death of DEA agent, Kiki Camerena, everything has changed and we will see the effects of this in season 2.
