What are the most expensive movies that bombed in the box office?

Is there even a standard formula which can be used to ensure a movie's success? While it may be safe to assume that there is such a thing, the truth is, there isn't. Even the most decorated actors and actresses or even the elite filmmakers will agree. A certain box office hit isn't made in advance using a strong cast or a big film studio. In fact, one simple factor determines whether a much-anticipated release ends up as a massive hit or as one of the biggest movie flops of all-time - and that is the audience. The world of cinema has seen all the highs and lows of big-budget productions. Hollywood is a witness to the fact that huge spending doesn't guarantee a box office success. Well, why won't movie fans even want to see the most expensive upcoming film? The answer is simple - probably because it's not even worth the money.

Movie darlings from the Marvel Cinematic Universe or anything with the Star Wars brand are often exceptions to the problem. These movie franchises seem to have mastered the art of creating success out of total fiction. It is almost guaranteed that their films would always spend tons of money and still manage to top the box office with massive earnings. Taking the route of CG-infused scenes and other-worldly production design has done the trick for them simply because such films have too much following. Outside of that elite tier, there have been other film studios that have dived into the depths of movie making with their purses all loose. They probably believed that spending that much to create quality films will equate to box office dominance. Unfortunately, this is not the case for some of those titles as they have been certified box office bombs. In this list, we have some of the most expensive movies that bombed in the box office. These films may have failed to break even in the cinemas but at least you can give them another shot by watching them. Enjoy!
